Hippie (HIGH PROVOCATION von Shinbashi) has settled in well and moves already around with the pack. She got used to the cold weather and enjoys the garden whenever she is outside. First snow in our region today and Hippie (HIGH PROVOCATION von Shinbashi) got to know it in the front yard. That must have been a mighty climate shock for the tiny one ...... from about 40°C during the days in South Africa to temparatures at the freezing point. Against expectations she did not bother too much - protected in a waterproof suit - and she went for an expedition in the front yard.

Hippie (HIGH PROVOCATION von Shinbashi) has arrived safe in Vienna today, although the plane from Johannesburg was over an hour late. Veterinary control in Switzerland and customs clearance in Vienna went well and at 12:30 p.m. I got the phone call from Animals First that I can come pick up the little lady. After a short feeding her bed was prepared on the passenger seat, harness and safty belt put an and off we went home. In the car she had a well deserved one hour sleep, at home it lasted some time till she came to rest. Food was accepted immediately and the night was calm. As internet once again did not work at Anne's home she took pics off the deskscreen and sent them via messenger. Thanks a lot dear Anne, once again you gave pleasure to me. Today in a week Hippie shall arrive in Vienna. Finally the time of waiting is nearly over. Then it is me who will provide Anne with photos so that she can continue watching her girl growing up.

The rabies titer test of Hippie (HIGH PROVOCATION von Shinbashi) is available and the count is high, much higher than necessary. All vaccinations are complete, paper work is at the shipping company and the flight has been paid. Therewith, so far nothing stands in the way of the departure of Hippie from South Africa on November 27, 2017.
Hippie will travel together with her sister Amy (HERE I AM von Shinbashi) via Zurich to Vienna, where Amy will be picked up from her owner and brought to Denmark. In can hardly wait for the arrival on November 28, 2017. Soon, instead of counting months, it will be weeks and then days.

July 22, 2017:
Since early in the morning I sat at the PC from time to time and used flight radar to check where the plane with Pagani (Caipirinha's PAGANI 2HOT 2HANDLE) and Prada (Caipirinha's PRADA PINK EDITION) on bord was. Finally the flight landed only a few minutes after scheduld tim in Johannesburg. Anne started her trip to the airport already early in the morning as she had a trip of about 280 km ahead of her.
Time did not want to pass. Finally at noon th first photos from Anne of the cargo building Johannesburg to let me know where the dogs would be handed over to her, and that PETport as well as the state vet were present. Three hours after arrival the next photos, when the crate was brought out of the hall, from confirming the takeover and then ...... the two darlings released out of the crate in Anne's arms.
The first tears had already flown when the plane had landed, but now everything broke out of me and I cried because of relief, and big rocks fell off my heart. Pagani and Prada looked good! But only Pagani had his suit on. Prada had not been shaved for a long time, and maybe they thought in Zurich that she did not need one. Luckily they were two in one crate, still I hope that Prada did not catch a cold because of her totally naked belly.
All's well that ends well. The relief about the good outcome of this trip can't be described. But if I will ever send dogs on a trip with switching flights is rather doubtful.
A new photo gallery has been set up: Pagani & Prada in South Africa. From the departure of their birth place to the arrival at Anne, and all further photos which will be received time by time will be added to this album.
Thanks to Anne for the trust in my dogs and that once again she gives two more from my breeding a home. And I hope that she will have success with both of them as well as that her breeding plans can be put into practice. In the evening Anne told me that Pagani and Prada conform totally to what she saw in the photos since childhood, and that she is happy that finally she ahlso has a male from my breeding. It fills me with big pleasure and also with pride when such words being said by a successful and worldwide well-known breeder.

July 21, 2017:
When today in the morning I got to the PC right after getting up and tracked the flight, my worst concerns had become true: Pagani and Prada had grounded in Zurich. The departure from Vienna had had a delay of more than two hours and, therewith, it was impossible to reach the flight to Johannesburg, as beginning with 11 p.m. Zurich has a night flight prohibition and no plane can wait, else it must stay until the next morning.
Immediately I sent a message to Anne and a mail to Animals First. They should call in Zurich and check where the dogs were, and then inform Anne with a phone call. Now we had two MAJOR problems: on the one hand no animals are accepted during weekends, on the other hand the validity of the blood attests expires today.
Now it was urgently meant to set actions both from Vienna and South Africa to get a prolongation of the validity of the blood attests as well as a special permission for taking over the dogs in Johannesburg on Saturday. The dogs should continue their trip today in the evening to be in Johannesburg tomorrow - again at 9:30 a.m. If that would not work, Animals First would get back the dogs to bring them to me and then pick them up again on Monday afternoon. Being caught at the Airport in Zurich for more than one day would be unacceptable.
Uncountable calls and mails by Animals First in Vienna and by PETport in Johannesburg were sent back and forth till finally at about noon the information came that the dogs could exceptionally arrive on Saturday because of the fault of the airline and that the blood attest would be valid for another 10 days. First relief after a stressful morning till noon.
But more important was for us, how both the dogs did and where they really were. Through Animals First we could find out that they were of course in the airconditioned animal part of the airport. In the afternoon a Swiss friend of Anne, Felix, wanted to try to get a visitor permission but this was unfortunatelly denied. But he could talk directly with the official vet at the airport who told him that the dogs had of course been fed and could run around until time of check-in would come. I called Felix and asked him to also tell them that both should get their suits on for the flight as they would be in the cargo compartment for about 10 hours. I am infinitely grateful to Felix that he supported Anne's and my case so much.
With all this I had a terrible déjà-vu: the Horror trip of Yazoo. And I only relaxed a bit when in the night I saw in the tracking that the flight had departed (with 40 minutes delay) Zurich direction Johannesburg - with Pagani and Prada on bord. Now I could go to bed and hope for tomorrow morning that everything would be fine as ensured.
July 20, 2017:
The day of departure of Pagani (Caipirinha's PAGANI 2HOT 2HANDLE) and Prada (Caipirinha's PRADA PINK EDITION) has come. We had to leave home at 2 p.m. to be at Animals First in the cargo area at Vienna Airport at 3:30 p.m., and that worked well even though we had lots of traffic. For the long trip in the cargo compartment both got suits on. With a heavy heart I put them into the crate and it was time to say good-bye.
With switching flight in Zurich, Pagani and Prada would land tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m. in Johannesburg. Hopefully the authorities would not take too long for dispatching. For being able to follow the flights I got an URL and a tracking number.
Have a good and safe trip both of you. Parting after a bit more than three years after birth is not easy. I big comfort is that they will be very fine in South Africa with Anne, both their half-sisters Needy (Caipirinha's NEEDLESS 2SAY) and Minu (Caipirinha's ONE HOT MINUTE) and the other ones of the pack. And with Anne I know for sure for 100 % that I'm going to get photos and updates in frequent intervals.
In the evening when tracking I got nervous because the departure to Zurich was delayed several times. I could not wait for the landing in Zurich as I had to get up early in the morning for work. A sleeping pill helped that I did not remain sleepless with all the thoughts about the two.

The appointment at the official vet with Pagani (Caipirinha's PAGANI 2HOT 2HANDLE) and Prada (Caipirinha's PRADA PINK EDITION) worked perfectly. All papers and attests were ok and officially certified. Flight is booked for July 20, Vienna - Zurich - Johannesburg with Swiss. Now everything for the trip must be prepared: crate with paper, blanket and water bowl, suits for the cool cargo compartment, enough water for the trip, collars and leashes, and all paperwork which needs to be fixed to the crate.

Today is the 11th birthday of the K litter de la Maison du Garde-Barrière, the last Briard litter of this kennel. A heartfelt Happy Birthday to Grisu, Chili and my own Courage. Most of all I wish all healthiness and some more nice years for these special Briards.

July 10, 2017:
After Anne had received the required import permit end of June, it was time for Pagani (Caipirinha's PAGANI 2HOT 2HANDLE) and Prada (Caipirinha's PRADA PINK EDITION) to go to the vet and have the blood drawn according to the import rules, and to serve the first prophylactic dose against heart worms. Both were totally brave. Today finally the test certificates arrived and everything is ok. Now on July 18, the appointment at the offcial vet is scheduled for checking them and for filling out the health certificate attached to the import permit, as well as sign and certify everything officially. If the appointment takes place the flight will be booked for July 20. Anne is really looking forward to the arrival of both. For sure here the good-bye will be in tears even though it is totally clear that they will have a great home. Parting with the two after 3 years will not be easy.

It is 11 years ago that Apollo (APOLLO de la Maison du Garde-Barrière) left to the other side or the Rainbow Bridge. A wee bit more of his last year of life he spent where he was born - here - because of death of his owners. He was 12.5 years when he passed. A candle has been lit for him.

Whisperingln' THE DEVILS ADVOCATE) and Ula (Multi-Champ. Family Song's ULA); a niece of Maverick (Multi-Champ. Caipirinha's NEED 4SPEED).
All fingers crossed that for the export everything goes well in South Africa, and that we can welcome her here before Christmas 2017.

Two of the four offspring have been very successful in the show ring, and finished championships at young age, Maverick (Multi-Champ. Caipirinha's NEED 4SPEED) was the first own bred Champion in this home. Needy (Caipirinha's NEEDLESS 2SAY) inherits excellently in the kennel von Shinbashi.

In South Africa puppies out of offspring from here were born: In the kennel von Shinbashi Needy (Caipirinha's NEEDLESS 2SAY) has whelped after Duran (Champ. Whispering Lane LAST MAN STANDING) 2 males (1 hl, 1 pp) and 4 females (3 hl, 1 pp). I am curious how the little dwarfs will mature. Heartfelt congratulation to my friend Annerose to this repeat litter. From the drei previous puppies (Y litter von Shinbashi) 2 are rather successful in the show ring.

It is 4 years ago that Sambo (SAMBO de la Chaume du Bois Dieu) - only a few days after his 12th birthday - went over the Rainbow Bridge.
It still hurts that he only had nearly a year to enjoy his life the way he should have deserved from beginning on. Still I cannot understand that there are people who take an animal just to let it veg out ...... without care, without suitable sleeping place, without love, ...... just feeding and serving water. A candle has been lit for this loveable boy.

It is 12 years ago that a magnificent Briard boy left forever ...... much too young at the age of only 9 years and a couple of days. No one can take his place in my heart, and the wonderful memories which link us, will always be present. Samson (UGO de la Morne Plaine) is missed like on the first day. His enjoyment of life, his hilarious character, his unconditional love, his indescribable passion to play ...... all things which are unforgotten and will forever remain unforgotten.
A candle has been lit for the sire of the here born C litter and E litter de la Maison du Garde-Barrière, for the sire of all in all 45 Briards in Finland, Sweden, Russia, USA, Canada, Australia and Austria, grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren in the USA.

Visiting the vet because Jebelle (JEBELLE de la Chaume du Bois Dieu) is still slightly limping after she slipped on icy ground on January 19. That time she was also presented to the vet and a muscle strain was diagnosed. To be sure that it is not something worse, her front legs have been x-rayed today. And now there is another great result for Jebelle in case she goes into breeding: ED both sides clear, shoulders both sides clear. Delight about this fact is of course big. And concerning her limping: she is too wild - even though she is let out to the garden alone and forced to tranquility in her crate. According to the vet everything should be ok in a couple of days.

Yesterday we had the last long walk of this year with Jag Junior (JAG LE CANNIBAL JUNIOR de la Chaume du Bois Dieu) and Jebelle (JEBELLE de la Chaume du Bois Dieu), the "silvester" walk in the fields. Sunshine, minus degrees, rime, two dogs which were full of energy, and the camera was with us.
